Lynn Newbery and Lorna Hamill
New Hazelton, British Columbia

Lynn Newbery and Lorna Hamill have been selected to win a $5,000 Avon Hello Tomorrow Fund award for their pearts in the Fight Against Breast Cancer.” Hello Tomorrow funding will allow Lynn and Lorna to host Breast Cancer awareness luncheon meetings
in rural north British Columbia to allow women in these communities an opportunity to get together to listen to breast cancer survivor stories and become more informed about cancer prevention and early detection. Lynn and Lorna are both cancer survivors and part of a small group that run a cancer support and information office located within Wrinch Memorial Hospital in Hazelton. The hospital serves a community that includes 7 First Nation villages and three incorporated villages which often makes it difficult to bring women together to discuss health issues and spread information.

The Avon Hello Tomorrow Fund award will allow Lynn and Lorna to host luncheons in several centres in the area. Lynn and Lorna hope that increasing breast cancer awareness through these special luncheons will encourage more women to seek help sooner and increase the possibility of success in their breast cancer outcomes.

Congratulations Lynn and Lorna!
